Smooth and nutty and tangy sauce with the hint of garlic made using sesame seeds, along with lemon is tahini sauce. Tahini sauce is basically made with tahini or tahini paste. Tahini paste is nothing but roasted sesame seeds ground with olive oil. Tahini is commonly used in Mediterranean and Middle East cuisine. Tahini can be used in a number of ways, i.e. for making tahini sauce, tahini dressing and so in. This is the Tahini Sauce recipe. It is very simple and easy to make. Further tahini sauce can be customized in a number of ways, explained further in this post.
Tahini: Good quality sesame seeds should be roasted and ground. Olive oil is added to make a paste. The quantity of olive oil required to make Tahini paste might vary according to the blender being used. If you blend using a strong blender, you will get a smooth sauce with less oil. 2 cups of sesame seeds make 1 cup of tahini. And 1 cup of tahini makes 2 cups of tahini sauce. Simple Math!
Lemon Juice: Juice of fresh lemons adds a lot of taste to the tahini sauce.
Garlic: Minced garlic is added for its pungency.
Herbed Tahini Sauce: Along with the other ingredients, also add in a handful of your favorite herbs such as parsley, cilantro or coriander, etc.
Garlicky Tahini Sauce: Simple, add in a little more of garlic than mentioned. For better taste, it is better to use roasted garlic.
Spicy Tahini Sauce: Also add in red chili powder or red chili flakes for the kick.
Chilly Tahini Sauce: A handful of green chilies can be added for making chilly tahini sauce.
