Crisp and delish cutlets prepared using lots of spinach with the slight heat of black pepper, tanginess of dry mango powder, and sharpness of ginger and green chilies, are palak cutlets. Cutlet recipes are my favorite. How much I love to indulge in these crunchy cutlets! Cutlet recipes are so simple to put together. Just mixing of ingredients, shaping, and frying! Generally, all healthy ingredients are used for cutlet recipes. Also, these or any cutlets can be extended to make a cutlet sandwich or burger by adding salad or cheese slices, sauces, etc.
Spinach is a rich source of vitamins as well as iron. It is good for eyesight. Further, it has non-cancerous properties. Such a healthy ingredient deserves a place in our diet more and more frequently, therefore, there are a number of recipes using spinach i.e. palak paneer, spinach raita, palak patta chaat, palak muthia, etc.
Let’s have a look at the ingredients required for Palak Cutlet recipe
Palak/Spinach: The selection of correct spinach is critical for any spinach recipe. As far as I know, green and small-sized spinach leaves should be selected. It is equally important to wash the spinach leaves very properly.
Boiled Potatoes, rice flour, and bread crumbs: These ingredients give the body to these cutlets. You can check the recipe for instant bread crumbs here.
Ginger paste, green chilies, black pepper powder, and dry mango powder: I have used these ingredients to flavor the cutlets. Dry mango powder is essential, as it cuts down the sharpness of spinach. You can also use lemon juice instead of dry mango powder. Further, you can also add garam masala, red chili powder, and chaat masala, etc.
Oil: I have used very little oil to pan fry the cutlets. You can deep fry the cutlets but even pan-frying gives very good results.
As already mentioned the cutlets are very versatile and can be served in a number of ways. These can be prepared for breakfast or tea time or appetizers or as a brunch by making a sandwich or burgers etc. Be it the popular bread cutlets or interesting sooji cutlet or healthy oats cutlets, these and many more cutlet recipes are given here.
