Homemade Granola

Homemade granola with step by step pictures- Oats combined with healthy sweetener and oil, along with nuts and seeds of your choice, flavored with spices and essence, baked till crisp or crumply, as per your liking, is granola. Granola is a very healthy and popular breakfast option. The best part about making granola at home is the control you can have on it. You can control the cost; homemade is obviously cheaper than the store-bought one. Other than that you can control the sweetness, and you can play with the flavors, etc. You can put the add ons as per your choice and skip the ones you do not like. With some granola in your pantry, you are a step away from a healthy and wholesome breakfast. In this blog you will learn how to make granola along with the step by step pictures.

Ingredients to make Granola at home

Oats: Rolled oats or old fashioned oats work for the homemade granola recipe. Frankly, when I made the recipe video for homemade granola I was short of rolled oats. Therefore I used instant oats. Certainly, it did not give the perfect texture as that of granola, rather I got very crumbly oats but we loved the same. So if you think you might like chewy and clumpy oats, you can also use the instant oats (at your own risk though).

Oil: I have used coconut oil to make granola. You can use any unflavored oil of your choice. What is important is to use the sweetener and oil in the same proportion. For crispier granola, you can reduce the quantity of oil mentioned in the recipe.

Honey: I have used honey to sweeten my granola. You can also use maple syrup or brown sugar etc. Well, I like my granola on a sweeter side. You can reduce the quantity for a lesser sweet version.

Nuts and dry fruits: I have used almonds and I had plans to use coconut flakes. But I forgot to add the same. If you plan to use nuts or dry fruits, do not add them with the other dry ingredients. Always add the nuts, especially dry fruits, at a later stage. And bake the same for not more than 10 minutes otherwise they tend to get burnt.

Seeds: You can use any seeds of your choice. Such as chia seeds, flax seeds, etc.

Flavorings: There are a number of ways to flavor the granola. You can add in spices such as cinnamon powder, cloves powder, etc. Further you can add essence, like vanilla, almond etc.

Hi! I am CA Vini Mehta. A Chartered Accountant by profession, a food blogger by passion! First of all, I would like to thank you for stopping by at Viniscookbook, I hope you have a good time. Here, yo...u will find the recipes which have been tried, at times re-tried in my kitchen and relished on the dining table. I am mother of two kids and the wife of a person with a high and selective taste sense, so basically anything, before finding its place on the blog, has many levels to cross and clear. This journey started a couple of years back. Before that I was making the most usual kind of food. The only experiment used to be asking my mother how to make something new or different☺. Then, one day, I tried a recipe for butter cookies. And they did not get to go in the container as they were over before I could store them. That day I was introduced to the joy of experimenting with recipes. And I loved everything else that followed especially garnishing and photographing food. I am still not well versed with the photography dos and don’ts but I love to experiment and learn, be it photography or cooking. Hope you too enjoy this journey as much as I do☺! Stay healthy, stay tuned!.
